In these increasingly violent times, heavy music has become just as brutal. A Dozen Dying Roses are the emotion of today’s youth. Formed in 2004 from the ashes of numerous fallen bands, ADDR has risen. Through passion, conviction, and pure hostility towards the society that has been built around them, like many great sounds, sorrow and hope are the catalyst. Like most bands the age of its members plays a part in the how the songwriting is influenced. ADDR ranges in age from 19 to 29. This makes for an interesting mix of old school hardcore and metal traditions, and modern day melodies and ideals. Basically it’s metal as haunting as the Swedish innovators, with breakdowns that rival the heaviest hitters of today. With 2 successful demos under there arm ADDR are ready for bigger and better things. Through dedication this band has become a force in there scene and are growing in popularity with every venture made from there home in Staten Island, NY. The first of there 2 demos was there s/t release, dealing with such issues as the hardship in relationships, self respect and strength in the face of adversity. It is a strong 4 song release recorded a good 6 months after the formation of the band. It was received well by friends and fans alike. The Second is the bands latest release entitled “The Surrendering EP”. On this recording the songs deal with a wider range of topics. “The Lover the Fighter” is an anthem for the bitter and cold of heart. “Catchy” appeals to the hypochondriac within us all. Untitled is an anti-love song. “Amongst the dead” is our homage to zombie lovers everywhere. A Dozen Dying Roses are looking for no less than to take over the world one town at a time. Touring has been a goal for this band from the beginning, but like everything else in this prison made by man, money is god. Armed with a new trailer hitch touring is the next step. ADDR has played with such renowned acts as Napalm Death, Obituary, dead to Fall, The Banner, Folly and the list goes on. They are earning respect and new fans at every show.
