Death Virginia is the nickname adopted by five musicians who look to further
themselves as one, and rely only on each other for support. With only a vague
notion of home, Death Virginia would prefer to wake up somewhere new every
morning. They have pushed through the north with their wide open performances
and calculating live show. July and August of 2006 saw DVA take to the
confederate states for their 'Death in the South' tour that challenged them to
make it through in peak heat and only a tent to sleep in at night.
The end of 2006 saw great success during the 'Thanks Forgiven' tour in November.
Through New York, Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania and back home to West Virginia
DVA traveled with 'Kettle Black' accompanying them as their anthem. Its lyrics
and process put into action the machine that would create the songs and
convictions comprising their debut EP, 'Dear Brothers.' The EP's content took
them out in March 2007 for the 'Stay and Fight' Tour of the eastern United
States.
Barring nomadic tendency, Death Virginia lives in Morgantown, West Virginia in
their practice space. They have made a committment to their music and work each
day with the next practice in mind. For Death Virginia, their home is not a cold
place; it is a mountain. It is lending a hand to one another and picking up each
other's pieces. Morgantown West Virginia is where you can find a group; five
people committed to each other, who can rely on the one with whom they share a
bench in a crowded van. Collectively they have found a refuge in music, taken
arms and christened their trials: Death Virginia.
